Our students loved decoding a mystery message for one of our Back To School activities. So, we made one for fall. The secret message is FALL IN LOVE WITH READING. After completing the mystery message, we are giving our students a leaf cutout. They will record their favorite book so far this year. Hoping this helps with our reading GOALS.

FAVORITE FOOD:
Chili Cornbread Casserole
Our families loved this new recipe. Combines two of our fall favorites chili and cornbread. The recipe is from the Mix and Match Mama Blog again. She has the best recipes! Check her blog out HERE.
Shopping List
1 pound of ground beef
Salt and Pepper
1 onion chopped
2 tablespoons of chili powder
1 6 oz can of tomato paste
1 15 oz can of Ranch Style Beans
1 8.5 oz box of cornbread mix (plus the ingredients to prepare it)
Sour cream, chopped onions, and/or shredded cheese
Preheat oven to 375 degrees and grease an 8X8 pan.
Next, in a large pa brown your ground beef and add a pinch of salt and pepper. Once browned stir in chopped onions and saute a few minutes. After that, stir in your chili powder, tomato paste, and beans. Reduce heat to low and simmer about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Meanwhile, per your cornbread package directions, prepare you cornbread batter. Set aside.
Pour your chili mix down into your prepared baking dish and then spread your cornbread batter across the top. Pop in oven and bake 20 minutes (until cornbread is set).
Remove from oven and let sit a few minutes.
Garnish with sour cream, chopped onions, and/or cheese.
