Holiday Activities for Upper Elementary

Easy, Engaging Holiday Activities

As we enter December and the mental countdown to winter break, we must still attempt to engage our seriously distracted students with meaningful lessons and activities.  We find that it helps if we embrace this time of year with some holiday themed lessons.  To help out we gathered some of our favorite TpT resources to assist in taming our students' behavior.

First up is our newest product - Winter Holiday Grab & Go! It is full of engaging, yet academic activities to fill your last few weeks before a much needed break! The 8 activities included are:
  • Nonfiction article with questions
  • Focused Poetry with questions
  • Holiday Cause and Effect Chain
  • Mentor sentence quiz
  • Identifying homophones activity
  • Irregular past tense verb activity
  • Kindness Calendar - Make the Grinch Cringe
  • Blank holiday writing pages

by Kelley Dolling - Teacher Idea Factory

To play this game,
students drop peppermint candies on an adjective mat to help them fill in the blanks on a fun Christmas story template. Our students enjoyed reading each other's silly stories.  It's like a fun candy twist on Mad Libs for the holiday.
