Teacher Treasures

One thing that is almost impossible for a teacher to do is turn off the teacher brain even during the summer months. We think about all of the things we want to do better next school year: classroom decor, organization, behavior expectations, read alouds, and so on. You cannot deny that we all have a summer to-do list that is a mile long. So, to help feed that teacher brain - and possibly make that list a tad longer - we are going to share some treasures that we have fallen in love with this summer. Our to-do list is ever growing, so we thought yours should be too! You're welcome!

1. EMOJI BORDER

How adorable is this border?! We all know that our students can't get enough of the emojis on all things technology, so why not bring them into the classroom?  They are made by Creative Teacher Press.  I got them for $3.99 at a local teacher supply store. Click HERE to see CTP's whole set of emoji goodies!

2. FLAIR PENS

What teacher doesn't love a good set of pens?! We found these Flair Pens at HEB for 50% off. Which are a perfect addition for our next find...

3. ERIN CONDREN PLANNER
-picture to come-

I'm sure you've heard about the amazing Erin Condren planner or maybe even have one of your own, but they're a tad on the pricey side.  Well drum roll please... Staples now carries the amazing Erin Condren planner for a fraction of the cost. Plus, it is the perfect place to use those new Flair Pens!

4. BAHAMA BUCKS

Mm, not all teacher treasures are teaching related. Some can be a little on the sweeter side. A new snow cone joint opened up near us here in Texas. There was a lot of hype leading up to the opening, so of course we had to try it! Well let's just say, we were not disappointed! Their snow cones are an upgraded version of your typical snow cone place. You can even get ice cream in the bottom -- mmm, yum!

5. COMPUTER KEYBOARD SHORTCUT
Since we have 1:1 tablets, we are always on the hunt for things that will help students. We had talked about making posters for keyboard shortcuts because we feel like we are constantly telling them "press ctrl + c to copy that" Sadly though, it was one of those items on our mile long teacher to-do list. One day we were scrolling through Instagram (love connecting on social media!) when Leslie Ann over at Life in 5th Grade posted a picture of her new product - Keyboard Shortcuts Display Posters!! Talk about a life saver!! We cannot wait to hang them in our classroom!

6. TARGET DOLLAR SPOT FINDS

We all know about Target's Dollar Spot - it is basically a little teacher heaven. We couldn't pass up adding it to our list because it is just simply ahhhhhmazing!

7. READING IN THE WILD by DONALYN MILLER

LOVE THIS BOOK! We reread it every summer. It is filled with so many wonderful ideas to engage our students during our reading time - independent and whole group. It is a must read!
